If I am thinking about studying abroad at some point during the 2023-2024 academic year. Should I still apply for a position in Residence Life?
Although we understand the challenges with various deadlines for applications and decisions regarding summer plans and study abroad opportunities, we ask that all candidates apply in good faith that if offered a position, you would more likely than not make the decision to accept. Students who are still finalizing involvement plans for the 2023-2024 academic year may go through our application process. Students are expected to keep Residence Life updated about their study abroad status as plans are confirmed.

What are the Residence Life Meet and Greets and Info Nights? Do I have to attend these events?
The Residence Life Meet and Greet is an evening event where candidates will have the opportunity to get to know current Residence Life student leaders and full-time staff members in a casual setting. As much as we are excited to see if you are a great fit for us, we want to make sure that Residence Life is a great fit for you! We encourage you to utilize the Meet and Greet to meet several people in order to get a better feel for whether you can see yourself working for Residence Life. We will include interview prep tips and a Q+A, so come with your questions! It will be a fun, friendly, and informative environment. Exact dates, times, and locations are forthcoming.

The Info Nights are more structured evenings where professional staff members and Residence Life student leaders will share their experiences and answer any questions about the position and the application process. More information explaining the various Residence Life positions (RA, RCC, RSA, GHC) will also be presented. Exact dates, times, and locations are forthcoming.

Attendance at the Meet and Greet and Info Nights is highly encouraged, but not mandatory in order to apply.

Where can I go for résumé and cover letter help?
Career and Employment Services (CES) is an excellent on-campus resource. We have also created a resume and cover letter guide to help get you started on preparing your application.

How will interviews be structured?
Candidates will sign up for a half hour interview at the conclusion of their Group Process. You will be asked several questions during that time, trying to gauge your experiences, values, and qualifications for the role. Taking a look at the position description and talking with current leaders will help in the process.

What if I have a conflict with the individual and/or group interview times?
Due to the timeline of our recruitment process, interview concerns will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Please send an email to reslife@pugetsound.edu as soon as possible with the reason for your conflict. The sooner we are aware of your situation, the more likely we will be able to accommodate you.
