Daedalus Lecture with Tanya Erzen
The Daedalus Lecture Series carves out a space for academic discussion, offering both a platform for sharing innovative work and the opportunity to come together as a diverse scholarly community. Rather than a teaching lecture, the presentations are conceived as a way to converse with and learn from one another in ways that enrich our community and broaden our interdisciplinary knowledge. Daedalus Lectures are intended to facilitate the sharing of research among colleagues.
This event is open to faculty, staff, retirees, emeriti, friends, and a small group of invited students. We invite you to the third presentation of the academic year from Tanya Erzen, Professor in Religion, Spirituality, and Society and director of the Crime, Law, and Justice Studies minor, at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2026. The title of Prof. Erzen’s presentation will be “Incorrigibles, Neurotics, Ladies and Runaways: Punishing Gender Nonconformity in the Washington State Training School for Girls, 1913-1979.”
This year, Daedalus events are free of charge for all registered audience members! The event will include drinks and hors d’oeuvres, a presentation, and a closing Q&A session.
