The course applies the tools of statistical analysis to answer research questions involving important datasets including the General Social Survey, the U.S. decennial Census, Current Population Reports, the American National Election Survey, United Nations country data, and World Health Organization data. The analyses will be run in the R environment, a free and open-source programming language widely used in data science and analytics. The course covers descriptive and inferential statistics. Bivariate and multivariate techniques -correlation, regression, ANOVA, and others - will be used to investigate explanatory research questions.
