2021 Commencement

President’s Award for Academic Excellence

Morgan J. MacFarlane

While the Class of 2021 includes several students with outstanding records of academic achievement, Morgan’s performance merits special distinction. She completed the greatest number of classes at Puget Sound, earning As in every graded class, from Art History to General Chemistry, Asian Feminist Inquiries to Terrorism. A Politics & Government major, Morgan is known as a writer of uncommon skill who excelled outside the classroom as well, restarting the Puget Sound chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha (the national political science honor society), leading the work of the Women in Politics Club, participating in Phi Kappa Phi (a broad-based honor society) and Pi Eta Sigma (an honor society for first-year students), and collaborating with faculty to create a political science academic journal for undergraduates. She is committed to working to solve problems facing the United States and the international community. Her drive, spirit, and initiative are profound.

Morgan, thank you for bringing your gifts to Puget Sound, and congratulations on this singular achievement.
