The committee shall consist of the Provost (ex-officio), the Vice President of Institutional Equity and Diversity (ex-officio), no fewer than seven appointed members of the Faculty, and two students.
The duties of the committee shall be:
- To support and collaborate with Faculty Standing and ad-hoc Committees on charges and tasks that can benefit from faculty DEIJ capacity and expertise.
- To work with the President, Vice-Presidents, and the Vice President of Institutional Equity and Diversity, concerning diversity initiatives that can benefit from faculty presence and leadership, as needed.
- To facilitate communication between Faculty, student groups, and other offices and programs that cultivate DEIJ, and to work with these groups, as needed.
- To annually review aggregate data pertaining to demographic characteristics of the campus, recruitment and retention, incidents of hate and bias, and other pertinent topics provided by the Vice President of Institutional Equity and Diversity, the Associate Vice President of Human Resources and Chief People Officer, and/or the Vice President of Student Affairs, and to recommend faculty DEIJ efforts and initiatives.
- To develop and implement strategies to cultivate DEIJ expertise within the CDEIJ and the Faculty Standing Committee liaison to the CDEIJ, other faculty committees, and campus community.
- Such other duties, as may be assigned to it.
