Dear Class of 2020,

I hope the last couple of months since graduation have brought you strength, reflection, growth, support, and (maybe, hopefully) some tranquility. Thank you for all you have given to Puget Sound, your legacy has left an impact and continues to shape this community for future classes to excel in—including mine. Students, like myself, are continuing to pursue a remote Puget Sound education this semester and your support last year has helped to make that possible.

While your Senior Class Gift campaign was cut short last year, it nonetheless made an impact—over $1,000 raised!—and will help give future Loggers the opportunity to attend Puget Sound.  Thank you to those of you who supported financial aid and our campus community last year. As we continue to adjust to current circumstances, I ask that you use this time to reflect on all your memories at Puget Sound. Remember your classmates, your laughs, your first friend, your best friends, your favorite class, the list goes on and on. While life during a pandemic looks different—the normal college environment has changed from classrooms to bedrooms, from late nights with your friends to late night face times, from lunch at the sub to eating a sub on our beds—the community is still present throughout, if a little socially distanced. Especially now, gifts can make Puget Sound accessible to every student who desires to be a Logger, regardless of their financial background. No gift is too little and your help will make a future student feel supported and enable them to make their own memories.

I imagine it’s hard to make the transition to an alum when your time as a student didn’t have the closure you were expecting, and we’re all asking, “what’s next?” Whatever is next for you, know that Loggers support Loggers, and not only will your gift help solidify a student’s next step, you’re also joining thousands of alumni who support each other. It’s alumni, like you, who create a community—of generations of Loggers—based in support and love of this place and continue to make it special for today’s students. I hope you take your education and all of your accomplishments and successes and apply them to wherever life takes you next.  University of Puget Sound will always be a home away from home for you.

Remember: Once a Logger, always a Logger!
