Good afternoon. I hope you are doing well during this last full week of classes.

I’m writing to let you know that Justin Canny, associate director of new student orientation, will be leaving Puget Sound on Friday.  As most of you know, Justin has been a steadfast member of the Logger community for more than twenty-seven years, first joining the college as an undergraduate in 1986. In 1998, Justin returned to Puget Sound to co-direct the Passages portion of new student orientation and to create PSO (Puget Sound Outdoors).  Through PSO and Passages he created a strong and well-loved program introducing novice and more experience students to the outdoors and to leadership experiences in the outdoors.

For the last two years he has shepherded the Passages new student orientation program through myriad changes, including the pandemic.

Through the years of involvement it has been gratifying for Justin to see students develop confidence in themselves through their involvement. It has also been rewarding to see new and more experienced students work for environmental and outdoor leadership organizations post-graduation.

A gathering is being planned to commemorate his time with us for Finals Week – we’ll send out more information in the next day or two.  Please join me in thanking Justin for his many years of dedicated service and wishing him well in his next adventures.

Thank you, and take care.
Sarah
