Dear Campus Community,

FedEx has informed us that they are experiencing a national service disruption due to winter storms across the country. As a result, potential delays are possible for package deliveries across the U.S. In particular, FedEx Express experienced substantial disruptions at the Memphis hub due to winter weather conditions. Because we ship all of our testing supplies through Memphis, we are also likely to experience delays in receiving testing results.

Despite this, CHWS has been fortunate to have access to a supply of antigen tests prepared to use as we wait for our salvia test results. Antigen testing is slightly less precise than our PCR Salvia Direct Test, but in combination with our regular testing program, it will provide our community with quick and accurate results. A limited amount of antigen testing will be offered in the Testing Pavilion for the remainder of this week. Antigen testing will take longer to administer, but the results will be available within 15 minutes. Antigen testing is done via nasal swab and thus, requires additional clinical personnel to administer. With this in mind, if a quick result feels unnecessary, please use the salvia test as you normally would. Additionally, please be aware that you may have a longer wait time in line for antigen testing. Please know that the lab is eagerly waiting for our salvia samples to arrive and is prepared to act quickly once they receive them. We will get notifications out about results as soon as they arrive. Thank you very much for your diligence, patience, and flexibility.

Sincerely,

Kelly K. Brown, Ph.D. | Director
