Where is your favorite place in Tacoma?

My favorite place in Tacoma is Wright Park. I like to go there to have picnics with my friends when the weather is nice. There’s also an indoor botanical garden there that I like to go to on rainy days to look at all the colorful flowers and tropical plants.

What is something that Puget Sound has taught you that you did not expect to learn?

One thing that I have learned at Puget Sound that I did not expect to get out of my college experience is how to have confidence in myself. I was very shy in high school and unwilling to try new things, but in my time here I have learned how to put myself out there and be much more confident in who I am. All of my communities here are just so supportive that I felt like I was allowed to be myself.

What is one college moment/achievement you are the most proud of?

One of my college achievements that I am most proud of is getting approved by the Institutional Review Board to do my own research this summer. I worked really hard on my surveys and my research proposal to send to them with a lot of help from my professors and I ended up getting approved without having to make any extra edits for them. I was really excited about that because I came up with all of the ideas for my research by myself and just talked to professors about how to organize my information, so it really feels like this is fully my project.

What is the one song or album that best depicts your college experience thus far?

The song that best describes my experience at Puget Sound is “Good Vibrations” by the Beach Boys. Ever since the day I got to campus when I was a first year, I felt like this was a happy place and everyone I met was so kind to me. Puget Sound really has “good vibrations” just like the song talks about.

If you woke up one morning with a super power, what would it be and what would be the first thing you would do with this new power?

If I could have any superpower, I would want to have the ability to teleport. I think that it would be so cool to be able to go anywhere in the world immediately and at any time. It would be environmentally friendly too because I wouldn’t need a car (Loggers Live Green!)

Jenna's Interests at Puget Sound

Puget Sound’s commitment to diversity includes honoring the wide range of religious and spiritual expressions embodied by our students, faculty, and staff. Find out more information about religious diversity and spiritual accommodations at Puget Sound!

The museum’s primary goal is to provide a well-curated archive of animals and plants specimens for research and education. A secondary goal of the museum is to demonstrate and educate about the value of natural-history museums. Students can serve as docents or participate in activities like on-campus bird walks and Night at the Museum events.
