Mickey Liebrecht is an International Political Economy major from Centennial, Colorado. In addition to writing plays for student theater festivals on campus, Mickey participated in Irish dance for the Repertory Dance Group and Tahitian dance for Puget Sound's annual Luau. Mickey also served as a member of the LGBT+ Alliance and editor for Relics magazine. While studying abroad in Namibia, South Africa, and Zambia, Mickey interned as an article and video editor with OutRight Namibia, a LGBT+ advocacy NGO. Mickey also created promotional videos as a video production intern with Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma. The connection between NGOs and local communities was the topic of Mickey's thesis project, NGO Efficacy Tanzania and Zimbabwe. This project identifies the historical, political, economic and social factors that create beneficial relationships between NGOs and local communities.
