Ruth Sullivan is new to dragonfly photography, but she is making up for lost time with her enthusiasm and persistence. Here is a sample of some of her photos.
Aeshna palmata, Ocean Shores, Grays Harbor Co., WA; 21 Aug. 1997
Ruth used a 400 mm lens with a 1.4 tele-extender and 800 ASA print film to get these very interesting and spectacular shots. The independence of the two pairs of wings and the flexibility of each wing are clearly shown. Star Wars aficionados will note that dragonflies were surely the models for the X-wing fighter.
