A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR:

WELCOME TO THE SCHOOL OF MUSIC!

I encourage you to use this page as a starting point to learn as much as you can about us. Ultimately, we hope you’ll accept our invitation to come and visit us on campus and find out how you can pursue your musical aspirations here at University of Puget Sound. In the meantime, connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter; peruse our website, and learn about us on a campus visit designed specifically for music students.

In our School of Music, you will work  only with artist-teachers who are dynamic professionals in their chosen fields. All Puget Sound classes are taught by professors; we have no teaching assistants. Through small classes, personalized attention, and five different degree tracks, our incredible faculty will work with you to lay the foundation for success in your future endeavors.

Please feel free to contact us with questions about music study at Puget Sound. I wish you the best as you pursue your passion for music!

Tracy Doyle
Director

P.S. Don’t forget to plan your visit!

The School of Music at University of Puget Sound is uniquely positioned to prepare students for professional careers in music and support non-majors interested in continuing their study. University of Puget Sound is one of the few liberal arts colleges in the country with a conservatory-style School of Music. Our active faculty of artist-teachers, scholars, and creative professionals work together to train the whole musician—to help students achieve an equal excellence in both performance and musical understanding.

Through our Bachelor of Music degrees in performance, music education, and with elective studies in business, Bachelor of Arts degree, and Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in songwriting, our students gain the skills and experience to go on to the finest graduate schools or pursue careers in performance, teaching, scholarship, music business, or other music-related fields. Our nine choral and instrumental ensembles, multiple chamber groups, stage productions, and numerous music clubs offer many opportunities to perform. Even if you choose to major in another subject, double major, or minor in music, there are rich possibilities for continued musical study and performance here in our School of Music.
