Members of the winds and percussion faculty are active performers, enhancing their teaching methods as members of the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Northwest Ballet orchestra, and other professional ensembles in the Northwest. In addition to dedicated mentoring in lessons and classes, students receive the opportunity to audition for a wide variety of ensembles, including the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, chamber music, percussion ensemble, and jazz combos.
Graduates of the wind & percussion program regularly go on to music careers with major symphonies, as educators at universities and public schools, or to graduate studies at the nation’s top universities and conservatories. Recent professional destinations for wind players and percussionists after Puget Sound have included such organizations as the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Seattle Symphony, the music faculty at the University of New Mexico and the University of Missouri at Columbia, graduate studies at Eastman School of Music, Manhattan School of Music, New England Conservatory and University of Southern California, and music faculty at public schools throughout the northwest.
