Each spring the Committee on Members in Course nominates candidates, usually from the upper 10% of the graduating class and the upper 2% of the junior class, for election to Phi Beta Kappa. In addition to an outstanding record of academic achievement, candidates have completed at least three-quarters of their course work in an area of the liberal arts and science as well as demonstrated knowledge of mathematics and a foreign language. The selection committee presents the list of nominees to Delta of Washington members for approval. Elected students are initiated in a ceremony in April.
