2024 Honors Recital Competition

The School of Music is excited to introduce a competition to select and honor Puget Sound students’ best performances of solo and small group music - any instrument, voice type, genre, or time period. Multiple winners are presented in a special Honors Recital concert program and receive a cash prize. The announcement for 2024 has been posted online. Best wishes and special thanks in advance to all competitors!

New Minors

The School of Music now offers two minors designed to welcome music-loving students with a broad range of interests and backgrounds: the Minor in Music with Applied Studies and the Minor in Musical Inquiry! Anyone interested in learning more is encouraged to contact Prof. Gwynne Brown.

Noon Convocations

Join us for Noon Convocations featuring student recital performances on select Wednesdays from 12-1:30 P.M. Free and open to the public. Schedule for spring 2024: Feb. 14, Feb. 21, March 27, April 10, and April 17.

Music making is not a neutral act. We are conscious that our performances and curricular planning can contribute to systemic injustices that enable racism to continue. We aim to better understand the cultural values that have shaped the sounds we study, create, and perform. We aim to confront those values which have excluded or diminished people of color.
