Pelvic Health Rehabilitation: A Focus on Women

This elective covers a range of crucial topics that will affect a significant portion of the population that you serve, regardless of the age or the environment in which you choose to work.

We will discuss impairments related to bladder, bowel, and sexual dysfunction and pregnancy. We will focus on increasing your knowledge of the evaluation and treatment of pelvic floor conditions. Class assignments range from completing a personal interview related to women’s health to observing a pelvic rehabilitation PT practitioner in the clinical setting. A strong emphasis will be placed on lab time which includes instruction and practice on manual and evaluative techniques to address diagnoses such as pelvic pain and urinary incontinence with each student acting as both practitioner and patient.
