The University of Puget Sound offers many opportunities for students to engage in research and travel, whether in the natural sciences, the social sciences, or the arts and humanities. Many major programs of study require or provide the option for a research-based thesis in the senior year. This page provides information about how students can apply for travel awards, research grants, and summer research stipends to support their research projects or research-related travel.

Student Research Opportunities

  • Summer Research Awards in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences Awarded on a competitive basis, these funds provide a $3,250 or $3,750 stipend to support students conducting independent research in the arts, humanities, or social sciences for at least 10 weeks, full time, during the summer. Deadline for summer 2020 is March 6, 2020.

    On-Campus Housing for Summer Research Scholars

    Summer Research Scholars are eligible to reside in campus housing while conducting research. Information about summer research housing is available on the Residence Life Summer Housing webpage.

    Please note, housing reservations will be made for students only after confirmation of their Summer Research Scholar status and are contingent upon availability.
