  • Reference form - please have this completed by Sunday March 14, 2021. This is a short reference form...not a lengthy recommendation. You can send the link to a: professor, high school teacher, coach or supervisor (the link will also be provided at the end of the application:

  • Apply for more than one position - yes you can apply to be an Ori leader, Peer Advisor, RA, Diversions Lead staff... these positions are mutually exclusive...you only choose one of these position.

Returning Leader Application Process:

  • Applications available February 3 and due by Thursday March 4, 2021
  • Review the Orientation Leadership information, expectations, dates
  • Apply as a Returning leader if you participated as an Orientation Leader in 2018, 2019, or 2020, otherwise reapply as a new leader
  • Complete the Returning Leader application (no interview required)
  • Apply for more than one position - yes you can apply to be an Ori leader, Peer Advisor, RA, Diversions Lead staff... these positions are mutually exclusive...you only choose one of these position.

 Puget Sound Outdoor Programs - New Leader Training

If you are interested in leading outdoor trips for the universities outdoor program Puget Sound Outdoors  a.k.a. PSO then apply to get involved. Whether you want to lead trips for PSO or during Orientation its important that you lead trips (1-2 per semester) during the year to continue to develop your leadership, facilitation and outdoor skills.

Spiritual Life Leadership and Community Engagement Opportunities

The University Chaplaincy supports four different leadership-related scholarships and mentorships offered by the University:

  • Spiritual Life Scholars – a mentorship program for students of any, all, or no particular spiritual/religious backgrounds interested in campus leadership related to religion and spirituality. Several awards given each year, generally around $4,000. Recipients participate in developmental and leadership opportunities through the University Chaplaincy.
  • Religious Leadership Awards – scholarship recognition of $3,000-$7,000 for students active in religious or spiritual leadership on or off campus.
  • Cyrus Ames Wright Scholarship – awards of $2,500-$15,000 for students considering or exploring professional or life-long religious leadership.
  • Chaplain’s Award for Spirituality and Justice – a scholarship recognizing rising Juniors and Seniors who have demonstrated significant work connecting spirituality or faith with work for social justice. Award amount varies year to year.

  • Hurley Community Engagement Opportunity:
    1 award each year, usually $3,000-$5,000 depending on funding, to implement a proposed community service initiative.
