This year's Alternative Fall Break theme is "The City of Destiny," but for Whom?: Tracing Histories of Exclusion.

This year's Alternative Fall Break is concerned with Tacoma's history of inclusion and exclusion. You may have encountered the motto "Tacoma, the City of Destiny" while reading through Admissions materials, highlighting the great place that Tacoma is to live. This break will engage this further, asking 'the city of destiny for whom?" We will trace the heavy histories of exclusion in the 253 and the ways they still impact the city, while also enjoying some of the unique experiences (food, activities, etc.) that Tacoma offers.

The Fall Break program will take place Saturday, October 13 - Tuesday, October 16.

Thank you for your interest in Alternative Fall Break for students at Puget Sound! Please fill out the application below.

Applications are due by Wednesday, October 5. Registration is $50 and can be paid either in cash or via check and may be delivered to the Yellow House. The registration is fee goes to help cover food, transportation, and honoraria for guest speakers, etc., though the bulk of the costs are covered by the program itself. Checks are to be made out to the University of Puget Sound with "Alt. Fall Break" in the memo line. Scholarships/financial support are/is available on request.
