Debra received her BSN from the University of Washington and has over 20 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse in a variety of settings. She began her career at the Childbirth Center at Northwest Hospital in Seattle. After a break to stay at home when her children were small, she worked for 13 years at North Seattle Pediatrics, where she was the nurse manager. Her most recent employment in health sciences was at Puget Sound Blood Center’s Cord Blood and Stem Cell Therapies.
In 2012, Debra earned her Master of Arts in Psychology – Systems Counseling from LIOS Graduate College of Saybrook University, and is a licensed mental health counselor associate (LMHCA.) She completed a 12-month internship at the Center for Human Services in Shoreline, WA, and went on to work in private practice for the past few years. She also volunteered as a therapist for Victim Support Services in a pilot program sponsored by United Way, working with victims of crime, and served as a first-responder trauma therapist with the Green Cross during the Oso landslide disaster.
On a personal note, Debra became a proud grandmother for the first time in 2013. She enjoys her family and friends, her two adorable maltipoos - Penny & Shelly, travel, the outdoors, and the arts. She is thrilled to be making her new home at Puget Sound in Tacoma and is eager to explore and discover its many treasures and delights.
