Marta is responsible for the Student Support department that is part of Student Affairs. This includes Counseling, Health and Wellness Services, Intercultural Engagement and directing Bystander Revolution Against Violence (BRAVe), the sexual assault prevention and education program on campus. She actively works with campus organizations by facilitating workshops and discussions around the multifaceted topic. She is a Green Dot Trainer and Facilitator, an instructor for the National Center for Campus Public Safety (NCCPS) Trauma-Informed Sexual Assault Investigation and Adjudication Educational Program, and works closely with the It's On Us Campaign and the Sound Advocates. She also advises multiple student groups, Peer Allies, Repertory Dance Group, It's On Us, and Men's Lacrosse.
Marta's favorite part of her profession is working with the students to persist at Puget Sound no matter what challenges they face in their lives. By removing barriers, finding resources, navigating trauma, and educating the campus community about important issues that need work, she hopes students will graduate Puget Sound with not only a stellar education but “a lived experience that helps them feel like they have everything they need to be engaged, active citizens.”
