Thank you for your interest in supporting the work Race & Pedagogy National Conference run smoothly. To ensure that conference attendees have the best experience possible, we seek students, staff, faculty, and members of the Race & Pedagogy Community Partners Forum who are willing to assist in several ways. At this time, we are seeking those already connected to the campus to draw on existing knowledge of the campus and the work of their departments to aid our visitors better. Below is a description of the various roles we seek help for and a link to a sign-up form. Please take a moment to read through the areas where you can get involved. Thank you!

Support Roles:

  • Keynote Support – Monitor conference passes and guide conference attendees through the venue. Technology training sessions required pre-conference for minimal ticket-scanning use. This is a straightforward role.
  • Registration – Greet and assist conference attendees at arrival and check-in; provide initial directions; direct attendees to the Guidebook app; troubleshoot questions or be able to refer conference participants to appropriate RPI Logistics personnel.
  • Runners – Aide Conference Logistics Team with in-the-moment needs and communication, run errands, and make deliveries.
  • Meal Support – Check meal tickets and staff meal areas.
  • Signage – Post and update conference signage around campus. Familiarity with the campus required.
  • Session Support – Staff concurrent session locations; swipe conference cards for entrance; deliver, pick-up, and turn-in paper evaluation forms at concurrent sessions where applicable. Provide Guidebook navigation support as needed. You will be able to attend the sessions you volunteer for - this is also a very easy role.
  • Youth Summit Support - Assist Youth Summit Team with both behind-the-scenes works providing hospitality, shepherding students, moving supplies and chairs, etc., to the discussion and content facilitation during sessions with the youth.

We will also have an ADA Support Team to assist individuals with disabilities to navigate the campus and the conference, assuring travel between sessions (likely via golf carts), reserved seating and interpretation needs, listening devices, etc. Additional training required for this role.
