The university chaplaincy, in collaboration with UMeth and the Grand Cinema, invites Loggers to trek over to the Grand Cinema in downtown Tacoma for a special one-night-only screening of the new documentary American Heretics. This film tells the story of a group of radically inclusive, justice-oriented Christians trying to offer a very different view of that faith—in the midst of the buckle of the Bible Belt, Oklahoma City.
Following the film, university chaplain Dave Wright will welcome Robin Meyers, professor emeritus of social justice at the University of Oklahoma City, into a conversation with local faith leaders about the film and the efforts to dream of a Christian faith committed to inclusion, diversity, and liberation for all people. Meyers will then be part of a brunch conversation on campus on the morning of Wednesday, Sept. 18. If you would like more information about getting a seat in the brunch conversation, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
