Laura Werner has been an active freelance performer and teacher since moving to Seattle in 1979 when she began work on her Master of Music degree at the University of Washington.
She is currently a member of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, Auburn Symphony Orchestra, and Saratoga Orchestra of Whidbey Island, where she plays flute and piccolo. She was piccoloist with the Cascade Festival of Music in Bend, Oregon from 1993 until its final year in 2007.
Ms. Werner maintains an active teaching studio in Seattle and has been a member of the UPS Community Music faculty since 2004. She enjoys teaching students of all ages from beginners through adult. She is an active member of the Seattle Flute Society where she has served on the Board of Directors and currently serves as a member of the Music Advisory Panel for the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival.
She received her Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from the University of Wyoming in 1979 where she studied with Katherine Kemler. She studied with Felix Skowronek at the University of Washington. Other teachers includes Pamela Endsley of the Colorado Symphony and Scott Goff and Zart Dombourian-Eby of the Seattle Symphony.
