Dear Students,

You are doing an amazing job of doing your part to keep COVID-19 to a minimum on our campus. You are testing, wearing masks, and staying 6 ft. apart. Please also remember to complete your daily screening. Doing so helps us to monitor the virus more effectively and mitigate the risk on our campus. Our COVID-19 positivity rate has declined, and we were hoping you could stay vigilant, especially as new variants of COVID-19 have been on the rise across the country.

Given the current landscape, please know that all travel outside of the state of Washington is strongly discouraged per university policy and may require self-quarantine up to 14 days prior to returning to campus as determined by Washington State’s requirements for higher education institutions other requirements in place at the time. Please remember, if you must travel and it requires missing class or work, you are responsible for notifying your faculty and supervisor, if applicable. You are also responsible for making arrangements for missed assignments, class time, and work. You are responsible for notifying your faculty and work supervisor, if applicable, to inquire if and how class assignments, class time, or work can be completed.

If you must travel, here are guidelines you should follow:

The university strongly recommends that travelers return to the University of Puget Sound from out of state self-quarantine for 7 days and test negative twice before engaging in in-person campus activities.

For On-campus Students: Students who live on-campus should quarantine in their room for 7 days and test negative twice before resuming in-person activities. When self-quarantining, students are permitted to leave their rooms for restroom use, gathering food from Dining Services, and for asymptomatic testing at the Testing Pavilion. All students must complete their daily health screening before entering the Puget Sound campus and continue twice-weekly testing throughout the semester.

For Off-campus Students: Students who live off-campus should quarantine in their off-campus residences for 7 days and test negative twice before resuming in-person activities. Off-campus students are permitted to return to campus for asymptomatic testing in the Testing Pavilion. Please ensure you remain 6 ft. away from others during testing and that your presence on campus is limited to this one task. All students must complete their daily health screening before entering the Puget Sound campus and continue twice-weekly testing throughout the semester.

Please note that these recommendations are subject to change based on the COVID-19 landscape on our campus and in our community.

Thank you for your continued vigilance,
