Riitta-Ilona Koivumaeki is Visiting Assistant Professor of Politics and Government at the University of Puget Sound. She received her Ph.D. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin in 2015, and held a postdoctoral fellowship at Tulane University in 2015-2016. Her research focuses on the interplay between economic forces and nation states in contemporary Latin America. She is currently working on a book project that examines the power struggle between the state and multinational corporations, and the role that international institutions play in mediating that struggle.
