Mike Pohl teaches classes related to biomechanics, research methods and scientific writing. His research interests include the lower extremity biomechanics of both normal and pathological gait. While completing his undergraduate thesis in sport and exercise science, he developed an interest in research and subsequently received a Ph.D. in biomechanics. He worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in the PT department at the University of Delaware (2006-2008), and then in the Running Injury Clinic at the University of Calgary (2008-2011). He then spent five years as an assistant professor at the University of Kentucky before joining the University of Puget Sound in 2016.
