Residence Life and Technology Services are aware of the wifi issues in a couple of the residence halls. TS has tracked down the issue, and are working quickly to fix it.
SI&P, the Office of the Chaplaincy, and other Student Affairs departments sponsored two DSA pop-up events over the last week. Hopefully you were able to join hallway bowling or participate in The Great Duck Hunt. Check out the Insta handle @sipofpugetsound for more information on the next pop-up.
Security Services is beginning the process to fill its vacant Assistant Director position. Before the process starts, the entire committee, which includes ASUPS Vice President Grant Konkel, will participate in a training about mitigating bias in a hiring process. Before the start of the fall semester, anyone within Student Affairs that participates in a hiring process will be required to go through this training.
In response to some specific feedback from the Student Support Survey that was administered in the fall, Student Affairs will be staffing the Dean of Students Office from 5pm until 7pm on Monday nights. If you have questions on services, need to make an appointment, or just want to chat with someone in the know, drop by WSC 208.
Shirreka Mackay joined the CHWS team in the fall to lend additional support to the counseling team as they work to address the challenges students are facing. We are excited to announce that Shirreka will be working with us for the entirety of the spring semester. She is working out of WSC 208 if you want to come say hi.
Based on a conversation with the Dean of Students Council, I’m working with Facilities Services to do some updating (this is not a renovation) on the main floor of the Wheelock Student Center. The goal is to provide a more friendly environment with more study space opportunity.
Marta Cady, Associate Dean of Students, announced her retirement last week. Her last day on campus was today Friday, January 21. I’ll be announcing how we will cover her position within the next couple of weeks.
Spread the word about the Religious Accommodations Policy. The deadline for asking your faculty member for an accommodation is 5pm on Tuesday, February 1.
