Senate elections are held twice a year, in October and February. Election packets will be available during both the fall and spring semesters.

There are 12 Senate positions, with specific requirements for each:

  • 4 Senators at Large
    • Two Senators at Large are elected each semester
    • Any member of the student body is eligible to run for the position of Senator at Large
    • Elected by the entire student body
  • Residence Hall Senator
    • Elected during the fall semester
    • Must be living in a residence hall at the time of their election
    • Elected by other members of the student body living in residence halls
  • On-Campus Housing Senator
    • Elected during the fall semester
    • Must be living in an on-campus house at the time of their election
    • Elected by other members of the student body living in on-campus houses
  • Off-Campus Housing Senator
    • Elected during the fall semester
    • Must be living off-campus at the time of their election
    • Elected by other members of the student body living off-campus
  • Greek Housing Senator
    • Elected during the fall semester
    • Must be living in a Greek house
    • Elected by other students living in Greek houses
  • First Year Senator
    • Elected during the fall semester, with a term lasting only until the spring election
    • Must be a member of the first year class
    • Elected by other members of the first year class
  • Sophomore Senator
    • Elected during the spring semester
    • Must be a rising first year student (someone who will be a sophomore after the current academic year)
    • Elected by other members of the current first year class
  • Junior Senator
    • Elected during the spring semester
    • Must be a rising sophomore (someone who will be a junior after the current academic year)
    • Elected by other members of the current sophomore class
  • Senior Senator
    • Elected during the fall Semester
    • Must be a member of the senior class
    • Elected by other members of the senior class
