Internship in Counseling Practice and Legal and Ethical Issues

This internship course consists of three activities: 1) a 600-hour internship in a school or mental-health setting; 2) a seminar in which small groups of interns review, evaluate, and receive feedback on recordings of counseling sessions and activities and discuss professional issues that arise on their internships; and 3) sessions in which topics such as legal and ethical issues and professional standards and guidelines are discussed. Interns develop assessment skills and the ability to design, utilize, and evaluate evidence-based interventions; they are expected to demonstrate professional conduct.

Prerequisites: EDUC 633 and 634, and, for school counselors, EDUC 636.
