This is a required year-long course that students typically take in their senior year. The courses are.25 unit courses and they are sequential, (i.e., EDUC 491 must be taken in the fall before EDUC 492 is taken in the spring. During this course students are placed in a teacher's classroom in a local school. Students work with teachers to conduct teacher research designed to help the teacher improve his or her practice. Students search the academic literature on a question of practice created with the teacher and gather and analyze data in cooperation with the teacher. The focus of the course is learning what is involved in making meaningful classroom-level change: understanding relevant to both educators and policy makers.
Prerequisites: Two courses from EDUC 290, 292, 294, 295, 296, 298, or 29X transfer credit, or permission of instructor.
