CHORAL ENSEMBLES AND OPERA THEATER

Adelphian Concert Choir, Dorian Singers, and Voci d’Amici
Incoming (NEW) Student Auditions: Monday, Aug. 26, 1–4 p.m. or Friday, Aug. 30, 9 a.m.–noon, Music L6. 
Returning Student Auditions: Monday, September 2, 1-5 p.m., Music L6 or Tuesday, September 3, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Music 204. 
Please bring a prepared solo (art song, hymn, aria, folk song) if you have one. If you do not have a prepared solo there will be sample patriotic songs and hymns available to sing at the audition. Please arrive a little early so you can fill out a short information form about your schedule and the choirs you are interested in. Choral Audition FAQs

Chorale
Audition not required: Attend first rehearsal on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 4 p.m., Kilworth Chapel.

Opera Theater
The School of Music Opera Theater will present She Loves Me (Bock/Harnick/Materoff) in spring 2020. Auditions are Nov. 4–5, 2019. An audition announcement containing more information will be posted in October. Rehearsals for the production begin in January and continue through the performance dates, April 3–5, 2020. STRINGS AND HARP

Symphony Orchestra
Incoming (NEW) Student Auditions: Monday, Aug. 26, 1–3 p.m. (violin and viola); Monday, Aug. 26, 3–5 p.m. (cello, bass, harp); Friday, Aug. 30, 9–10:30 a.m. (all instruments), Schneebeck Concert Hall.
Returning Student Auditions: Monday, Sept. 2, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. or Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2-6 p.m., Schneebeck Concert Hall.
Please prepare a 5–7 minute solo (or excerpt of a solo) that best represents your current playing ability. You may be asked to sight-read as part of your audition.

WOODWINDS AND BRASS

Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra
Incoming (NEW) Student Auditions: Monday, Aug. 26, 8 a.m.–1 p.m. or Friday, Aug. 30, 10:00 a.m.–1:30 p.m., Music 111.
Returning Student Auditions: Tuesday, Sept. 3, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. or Wednesday, Sept. 4, 8-11 a.m., Music 111.
The audition consists of two contrasting excerpts demonstrating both lyrical and technical ability, a chromatic scale (full range, slurred, ascending and descending), and sight-reading.

PERCUSSION

Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra
Incoming (NEW) Student Auditions: The audition process is twofold. First, sign up for a “get to know you” interview with Dr. Morris to take place on Monday, Aug. 26, 8 a.m.–1 p.m., or Friday, Aug. 30, 10:30 a.m.–noon, Music 111. Second, all percussionists must attend a mandatory meeting and audition for ensemble placement on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 6–8 p.m., Music L1. For audition requirements or percussion studio information, email Dr. Gerard Morris.
Returning Student Auditions: Interview not required. All percussionists must attend a mandatory meeting and audition for ensemble placement on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 6–8 p.m., Music L1.

JAZZ ORCHESTRA

Incoming (NEW) Student Auditions: Monday, Aug. 26 or Friday, Aug. 30, 10 a.m.–noon, Music L1.
Returning Student Auditions: Monday, Sept. 2, 7-9 p.m., Music L1.
The audition consists of two contrasting jazz excerpts, one fast and one slow. You will also be required to sight-read. If you are interested in improvising, be prepared to demonstrate your ability.
