Megan Waldo, Class of 2018, was an Economics major and Chinese language minor from Portland, Oregon. In addition to serving as a member of the Alpha Phi sorority, Megan participated in Puget Sound Outdoors, Passages (the outdoor component of Puget Sound's Orientation Program), Crosscurrents magazine, and Undergraduate Women in Economics Club. During her sophomore year, Megan interned with the US Commercial Service at their Portland, Oregon office as an International Trade Assistant. As part of her internship, Megan assisted clients in assessing and addressing challenges in export business development, conducted economic research, customized information for small-medium sized businesses, and promoted, developed, and executed international trade events via client outreach and social media marketing. While studying abroad in Shanghai, China, Megan completed a research project on college student consumer power in the Chinese cigarette market using survey data and national data analysis. Megan also worked during her junior year in Shanghai at Highteam Marketing as a public relations and marketing intern. During her time there, she compiled CEO briefing booklets for large media events and provided Chinese to English translation services.
