"In the wold before airplanes and cars, horses and boats were the primary means of travel. On the oceans, big sailing ships moved people from one country to another. Shipping was also how valuables for sale or trade were moved between countries. Sometimes families, with all of their possessions, would be traveling by sailing ship across the oceans. This was a world that pirates lived in."
When my children were small, we would often take long walks or car trips and one of our activities was making up stories. This story was a favorite oral tale told to my sons when they were little. As an adventure, I decided to publish this story. I found a young artist who- magically saw the story just as I imagined it -when I told it all those years ago.
