  • Essay

All applicants must compose an essay that follows the format requirements below.

    Essay Format Requirements

    1. Please title your essay: “Reasons for Pursuing DrOT Study at Puget Sound.”

    2. The essay must be typed, double-spaced, using 12-point font.

    3. The essay is limited to 1500 words.

    4. Your name must appear on the cover page of the document along with a precise essay word count.

    5. Save your essay as a PDF (other file formats will not be accepted).

    6. Include your legal name in the file name of the PDF as follows: “Lastname,Firstname_DrOTEssay.pdf”

    7. Upload your PDF directly to this application, using the button at the end of this section.

    Essay Topic Areas

The application essay must discuss all three of the topic areas below. You are encouraged to organize your response to the three topic areas in a way that best demonstrates your professional narrative and future career goals (i.e., simply addressing the three topic areas below in isolation is not as compelling as a well-organized and integrated essay).

    A. Describe your professional history as it relates to the other content of this essay.

    B. DrOT students will select a primary area of concentration, with an option for a secondary area (see Plan of Study on the website for further details). Identify your anticipated primary and secondary (if applicable) areas of concentration. (Note: Developing an actual Plan of Study will be done collaboratively with faculty. If you are accepted into the program, you will have an opportunity to revise or change your areas of concentration. Thus, you do not need to complete the Plan of Study at this time).

    C. Discuss how the DrOT Program at the University of Puget Sound is a good fit for your career goals.
