Faculty connected me with a great network of school counselors
which has provided me the opportunity to shadow at a few different schools in order to find a placement that is right for me. ~ Sarah Atchison (M.Ed. '19)
The support of an experienced mentor, invested in your growth as a counselor, is important to us. For this reason, we go to great lengths to make the best placements for you.
We know our mentor counselors well, many of whom are alumni of our program. We intentionally match personalities and counseling styles to create the best learning experiences and opportunities for your growth. Internships begin in the fall and continue into the spring during the second year of your program of study. As you progress you will assume greater levels of professional responsibilities. Throughout the experience you will meet weekly with an instructor and a small group of your peers to support your continued professional development as a counselor.
The School of Education is located in Tacoma, within Pierce County, and serves the local area. We work with our network of counselors to find the best placement for you in the South Puget Sound area.
