Fall 2020 Registration - attend your VIRTUAL Registration Planning Meeting (RPM)

Your faculty advisors and academic peer advisors are here to get you...registration ready!

HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR VIRTUAL RPM

Your academic peer advisors have been busy preparing your VIRTUAL Registration Planning Meeting (RPM) to help you register for Fall 2020 classes.

A summary table with details on ALL RPM sessions is included below.

In preparation for your RPM, you are required to do the following FIVE things:

1) REVIEW this short video on "How to Register for Classes." (6:24 minutes in length). Topics covered in this video include:

  • where to check for registration holds, such as the Advising meeting hold, Terms & Conditions, Immunization, and financial holds,
  • how to search classes by term (available starting March 25),
  • how to search for cores and classes that spark your interest,
  • advanced class search functions, such as finding courses that meet a specific core requirement [i.e. natural science core) or cover graduation requirements, such as the KNOW or Connections,
  • how to wait-list a class (max. of 2 classes can be waitlisted),
  • how to set up manage my wait-list so the system automatically adds you to a preferred class, if a seat opens, and drops you from a less preferred class,
  • where to enter permission/add codes,
  • how to add classes to your shopping cart,
  • how to enroll in classes from your shopping cart,

2) REVIEW the 5-minute video, How to run and interpret your Academic Requirements Report, to carefully track your graduation requirements and courses needed to complete your major(s)/minor(s)

3) REVIEW the 5-minute video, How to run and interpret a "What-if Report" to view the course requirements for any degree combination you want to enter.

4) REVIEW curriculum guides for any major(s) you may be considering. These guides will give you an idea of the SUGGESTED four-year plan of what courses to take and the requirements needed to complete any major (and some minors). Several minors also have a curriculum guide.

5) RESPOND to your peer advisor to let them know you are planning to join your virtual RPM.

REGISTRATION PLANNING MEETINGS

RPMs are designed to help you plan for registration. Some faculty advisors use these sessions to review your planned courses and lift the advisor meeting registration hold on your account. Other faculty require an additional individual meeting (i.e. via phone, email, virtual appointment) to review your course plan before they will lift your hold. Check with your faculty advisor and/or peer advisor to confirm whether they plan to lift your hold at your RPM or if you are required to schedule a separate advising meeting.

Each advising class will be emailed a link to JOIN THEIR PEER ADVISOR and *faculty advisor VIRTUALLY to discuss what classes to register for Fall 2020. A summary table of all RPMs is included below.

*Not all faculty advisors are able to attend the virtual RPMs. Details about YOUR advising class RPM were emailed to you by your peer advisor before spring break. However, with the recent extension of spring break, and now the decision to continue online classes for the remainder of the semester, some RPMs have been rescheduled. Check with your peer advisor to confirm your RPM time and date.

If you have a schedule conflict with the RPM hosted by your peer advisor please let them know ASAP.

NOTE: RPMs do not automatically replace the required advisor registration meeting. check with your faculty advisor to confirm.

For more information about your VIRTUAL Registration Preparation Meeting (RPM), contact your peer advisor or call or email us in Academic Advising; email: academicadvising@pugetsoundledu; call 253-879-3250.
