A marine Night at the Museum!
Tacoma sits right on the edge of Commencement Bay, but have you ever wondered what life is like just next door? We may see plenty of gulls and barnacles, but what about the wildlife that isn't immediately noticeable to us? From the soaring skies to the deepest depths, dive into an evening celebrating the life of Puget Sound!
Live animals- Get up close and personal with some special guests from the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium!
Student research- Talk to some University of Puget Sound students about their research in marine plastics!
Specimen preparation- As always, our Collections Manager will be turning dead animals into museum specimens. Ask questions and get hands-on with his dissections and preparations!
Kid's craft- Create an octopus out of a toilet paper tube!
Special guests- Learn about citizen science and conservation opportunities with the Puget Sound Seabird Survey and Surfrider!
This is a free, family-friendly, drop-in event.
Join us November 16th, from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at the University of Puget Sound Campus (located at 1500 N Warner St, Tacoma, WA 98416) in Thompson Hall room 295. Directions to Thompson Hall can be found here.
