Earth Day 2020

Puget Sound encourages members of our community to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. As part of this celebration, Puget Sound is joining many community partners to plant and care for trees throughout our region. Please join us! You can register to participate in the South Sound 2020 Earth Day challenge that is collecting selfies of community members hugging trees.

Puget Sound has a long standing commitment to the sustainability of our tree canopy, including our engagement with Tree City USA and the many trees we plant and care for both on and off campus. Facilities Services manages an electronic tree canopy map and inventory of all campus trees that helps us to maintain them, protect campus biodiversity, identify where to plant new trees, and calculate campus tree carbon dioxide offsets.

As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, we invite everyone to take a pause in their busy virtual days, grab a cup of coffee or tea, and spend a moment outside appreciating the beauty of our planet.

The Earth is ours to protect, and its beauty sustains us all during these challenging times. Please join us Wednesday, April 22, 2020 from 9:45 - 10:15 a.m. in your own backyard or nearby green space and celebrate Earth Day.
