Q&A about: Becoming a vendor, donating items, getting involved

Where can I purchase tickets and what do they cost?
Tickets are sold at the door on the day of the event (Saturday, March 23, 2019) only.

$5 per person for 10 a.m.—4 p.m. admission
$15 per person for Early Entry (between 8 and 10 a.m.)

All proceeds from entry fees go towards student scholarships! If possible, please use cash so that 100% goes to scholarships and not to transaction fees. Thanks!

What are the Fieldhouse Flea Market hours? Can I re-enter?
Early Entry begins at 8:00; regular admission begins at 10 a.m. The Fieldhouse Flea closes at 4 p.m. Your entry stamp allows you to come and go throughout the day.

Are there any discounts available for admission?
Because the Fieldhouse Flea Market benefits student scholarships, we do not offer discounts. ~Unless you happen to be 2 years old or under, then you may enter for free starting at 10 a.m. (Parents, please keep in mind that the event will likely be quite crowded. Strollers can make it very difficult to navigate the shopping aisles.)

What forms of payment are accepted at vendor booths?
Women’s League booths accept cash only, with all proceeds going towards student scholarships. The nearest ATM is a few blocks away, so come prepared! Most other vendors accept both cash and credit cards.

I've found so many fabulous treasures that I've run out of cash. Where's the nearest ATM?
Currently, the only ATM on campus is located at Wheelock Student Center—building 52 on the Campus Map. The next closest ATM is on Union Avenue at the 6th Avenue Street Wells Fargo Bank.

What's the parking situation?
Parking is free! Check out the Campus Map. Parking lots are marked with "P." The 11th street lot (P3) nearest to the Fieldhouse (28) fills quickly. The next best options will be along the curb on 11th; the small lot at Weyerhaeuser Hall (P2); the spaces along Lawrence (P12, 11, 10), including the lot at the Wheelock Student Center (P1); and also the lots accessed from Union street, P4 & P13.

How do I get to the upstairs vendors, Grandma's Attic, and Books? Where is the elevator?
Review the Fieldhouse Flea Market Map in advance, and watch for wall signage pointing the way on the day of the event! Two sets of stairs are located in the lobby. The elevator is located near the lobby—behind the Snack Bar.

A third set of stairs is located at the back of the building, in the southeast corner and leads directly to the upstairs vendors, including the Boutique, Grandma's Attic, Jewelry, and Books.

What sort of food will be available?
In addition to vendors offering Deliciousness, the Women's League is partnering with Puget Sound's talented Dining and Conference Services to provide grab-and-go options at the Snack Bar.

>>>Prefer to sit down while you nosh? The bleachers upstairs are a great place have a seat and watch the action below while you plan your next shopping target!

Where are the restrooms?
Multi-stalled restrooms (and also water fountains) are located upstairs in the hallway on either side of the building. Look for the large green areas marked on the Fieldhouse Flea Market Map.

Two wheelchair accessible, gender-neutral, single-stall family restrooms are located near the elevator, behind the Snack Bar on the downstairs level. If possible, we request that you use the upstairs facilities to ensure that those who need accessible facilities have first priority. Thanks!

What kind of event is the Fieldhouse Flea Market?
This is much more than just a tag sale. This community event and scholarship fund raiser is a mash-up of a rummage sale, an antiques/vintage show, and an artisan crafts fair.

What types of items will I find at the Flea Market?
There's a wide range of wonderful vendors! Here's the list of 2018 vendors, grouped by Antique, Vintage, Repurposed; Artisans & Creatives; Deliciousness; Garden; Jewelry; Paper, Letterpress, and Prints; Soaps, Salves, Balms, Etc.; Textiles and Clothing; and Women's League Booths.

Which booths are run by Women's League volunteers?
Areas staffed by the Women's League (with proceeds going to scholarships) are marked with maroon on the Fieldhouse Flea Market Map. Downstairs, they include the Raffle, Souvenir Table, and Snack Bar near the lobby.  Upstairs, in the southeast corner, is the Boutique, plus Grandma's Attic, Books, and Jewelry

How does the Raffle work? Do I need to be present to win?
Located in the Lobby of the Fieldhouse, the Women's League Raffle features wonderful prizes donated by many of our fabulous vendors—marked with asterisks on the Vendor List and Fieldhouse Flea Market Map. (2017 prizes shown above.)

Tickets are $1 apiece. Or—if you like a bargain—for each $5 you spend, you get a free ticket! $5 = 6 tickets, $10 = 12, $20 = 24, etc. All proceeds benefit scholarships, so buy lotttts of tickets! ($100 = 120 tickets!)

Various prize packages are assembled, and you "vote" to win your preferred prize with each Raffle ticket you purchase. Happily, no matter how many tickets you purchase, you only have to write your contact information once!

The drawing will occur as the day winds down, likely around 3:30, but check the table on the day of the event for confirmation. You need not be present to win—we'll call to arrange a time for you to pick it up.

Who designed the poster?
Chandler O'Leary, local artist and vendor at the Fieldhouse Flea Market was commissioned to create graphics for our 50th anniversary poster. She changed up the color and icons a bit for this year. We love what she came up with, don't you?

How are vendors selected?
If you're a local small business/artist/maker who is interested in hosting a booth at the Fieldhouse Flea Market, please visit our vendor web page for application criteria, dates, and process.

I have items to donate...
Terrific! We're seeking donations of items in good condition for the Boutique and Grandma's Attic sections run by the Women's League. Please plan to bring your donations to the fieldhouse on Wednesday, March 20 between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Here's what we need...and what you'll find when you come to shop!
Grandma's Attic and Boutique: Collectibles; vintage and antique items; jewelry* & accessories (but no clothing, please); housewares such as linens, dishes, crystal, flatware, kitchen gadgets, etc.; home and garden decor; holiday items; craft supplies; tools; games; toys; sporting goods; camping gear; and other treasures!
Books: Print and audio books, maps, movies, and music (vinyl and CDs/DVDs—no cassettes, please.)
Furniture: Small side tables, chairs, lamps, mirrors, rugs, trunks, bicycles, exercise equipment, outdoor furniture, and other odds & ends. But please keep them small and easy to move by a single, small, non-weight-lifting human. Thanks!

*The jewelry display at the Fieldhouse Flea Market attracts buyers seeking intact items, but also crafters in search of pieces and parts. Here are the types of items we're looking for...
Intact and functioning (or broken!): jewelry, watches, rosaries, belt buckles, keys, buttons, thimbles.
Pieces and parts, such as: single earrings, jewelry missing stones, brooches missing pins, necklaces & bracelets missing clasps, loose stones, beads, broken chain; plus any other small doodads that crafters might wrap with wire, dangle, or otherwise incorporate into their jewelry creations.
League members, please bring your donations for the jewelry display to the January and February Women’s League Luncheons so we can get a head start on prepping and displaying items. Thanks!

How can I get involved with the planning, preparation, promotion, and presentation of the Fieldhouse Flea Market?

Join the Women's League! This is a wonderful group of accomplished alumnae, spouses of alumni, current and retired staff members, friends of the college, and parents of students. We meet throughout the school year...gathering for lunch and conversation, learning about Puget Sound from faculty and staff presenters, and preparing for the Fieldhouse Flea. Learn more about the organization, and become a member!

What is the date of the 2020 Fieldhouse Flea Market?
Planning ahead? Typically, the Fieldhouse Flea is held in March during Puget Sound's Spring Break. So tentatively, that sets the date for Saturday, March 21, 2020. Follow the Women's League Facebook page and Instagram for first notice confirming the event.
