Pierre LyPierre Ly is researching the wine industry in China: what is driving it, the business and politics behind it, and the evolving economics, including an emerging wine tourism industry. He has written about these topics for Alternative Emerging Investor, The Conversation, Wine Economist, and Wine China. He has been quoted about the industry in China Daily USA, China Daily Asia Weekly, and Mode magazine. Ly expanded his research in China in 2015 as the first exchange scholar in a new partnership with Fujian Normal University. Other research interests include development economics and the economics of charitable behavior, for which he did fieldwork with NGOs in Bangladesh and research on the charitable activities of terrorist organizations. Ly teaches Introduction to International Political Economy; Theories of International Political Economy; The Business of Alleviating Poverty: NGOs, Corporations, and Social Entrepreneurs; and The Idea of Wine. Ly has been working on a book project tentatively titled “Made in China: Wine Edition.”
