David Chiu has interests and expertise broadly in data management and cloud computing. He has worked in caching, indexing, resource allocation, performance modeling and optimization, and energy-aware computations. Chiu has published more than 40 articles on these and related topics in peer-reviewed conference proceedings and journals, and has nearly 500 citations of his work. He regularly serves on the program and organizing committees of major conferences in his research area. He also has served on several editorial boards for computer science journals. Chiu is the creator of Auspice, a cloud-based scientific workflow discovery and runtime system. He is the co-creator of novel bitmap compression and querying techniques for large-scale data management.
