Puget Sound Virtuoso Strings

Puget Sound Virtuoso Strings provides a supportive musical and social community for serious string students in middle school, junior high, or high school grades seven through twelve, playing at the upper intermediate and advanced levels. Students will learn by playing for each other, playing together, and by working with professional musicians. During this class students will:

  • Learn and perform pieces in a conductorless ensemble
  • Perform solo pieces they are preparing for lessons, auditions, concerts or competitions
  • Receive feedback in a supportive atmosphere
  • Gain enrichment instruction on aspects of music performance, including tools for combating performance anxiety, creating a historically informed performance, and applying for college and summer music programs
  • Have the opportunity to learn from guest artists in a master class setting

Instructor: Dr. Maria Sampen

The class meets twice per month on Sunday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Class fee is $190, plus $10 registration     
Instructor approval is required for enrollment in this class. Parents, students, or private teachers interested in the program should contact Dr. Maria Sampen at msampen@pugetsound.edu for enrollment information.
