Gunnar Folsom

Gunnar Folsom is one of the Pacific Northwest's most in-demand percussionists. He is a member of the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, and is a frequent substitute with the Seattle Symphony, Seattle Opera, Tacoma Symphony, and Northwest Sinfonietta. As a chamber musician, he has performed with John Taverner and the Tallis Scholars, Ensemble Sospeso, the Seattle Chamber Players, and the Festival Chamber Music Society at Merkin Hall. Mr. Folsom is a founding member of Pacific Rims, a percussion quartet based in Seattle. He can be heard on countless movie and video game soundtracks such as Die Hard with a Vengeance, Runaway Jury, Drag Me to Hell, Enter the Matrixx, and Halo III. He is a percussion coach for the Seattle Youth Symnphony Orchestras (SYSO), and is on the faculty of the Marrowstone Musical Festival. Mr. Folsom has taught at Music Works Northwest (SYSO), Marrowstone in the City, the Mid-Summer Musical Retreat, and New England Music Camp in Sidney, Maine.

Mr. Folsom received his BMus from University of Washington and  master's degreee from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Christopher Lamb, Duncan Patton, and Don Liuzzi.
