Federal and State Work-Study Referral Sessions

Are you a current Federal or State Work-Study recipient who is returning to Puget Sound for the fall semester?

Do you want to explore job options for next year? If so, plan to attend Career and Employment Services’ Federal and State Work-Study Referral Sessions.

Planning to return to your current on-campus Federal or State Work-Study job next year? You do not need to attend the Referral Sessions, but make sure to confirm your interest with your supervisor. Career and Employment Services (CES) will assume that you are returning to your previously held position unless you meet with CES to obtain a different referral, or your supervisor notifies us that you will not return.

If you have questions not addressed in the FAQs below, please contact CES.

When are the Referral Sessions?

  • Monday, April 15 — Friday, April 19, 2019
  • Morning Sessions: By appointment. Call 253.879.3161 or visit Howarth 101 to schedule.
  • Afternoon Sessions: Drop-in from 2-4:00 p.m. No appointment necessary! Just visit CES in Howarth 101 and you will be seen in the order of your arrival.

Why should I attend?

  • This is your best opportunity to explore options or look for a different work-study job for the upcoming academic year.
    • You'll have access the widest range of possibilities available.
    • You'll be able to preview open jobs and get a referral to interview for the job of your choice.
    • You can arrange your employment ahead of time for the upcoming academic year.
    • Your next opportunity to be referred to a different job for the upcoming academic year will be the first week of fall term, after first-year students have been referred.
    • CES will assume that you will return to your previously-held position unless you meet with CES to obtain a different referral, or your supervisor notifies us that you will not return.

What if I am studying abroad and unable to attend?

  • If you were previously employed in a Federal or State Work-Study position on-campus and intend to return, contact your supervisor to confirm your interest.
  • If you are not returning to a previously-held position, please send an email to ces@pugetsound.edu to schedule a referral appointment from abroad via video call (e.g. Skype).  If you do not meet with CES over a video call to arrange a job referral in spring 2019, and you receive Federal or State Work-Study funding for the 2019-20 academic year, you will need to submit your Work-Study Employment Application (WEA) to CES by July 15 for us to arrange a job referral on your behalf. A link to the application will be to you in mid-June via email.

Are work-study opportunities available off campus?

  • Off-campus positions are only available to Washington State residents.
