We asked Joe...

How would you describe your role and organization to a college student?
Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, Russell Investments is a globally diversified financial services organization with 21 offices in the world’s major financial centers, including London, Paris, Amsterdam, Sydney, Tokyo, Shanghai, San Diego, New York, Milan, and Frankfurt. As a global organization, Russell Investments provides a broad range of investment services. The breadth of our global clientele gives us comprehensive insights into the variety of challenges faced by individual and institutional investors, and this experience results in effective solutions, which we implement to help our clients’ achieve their investment goals.

For the past 30 years, Russell Investments has applied our strategic advice directly to the management of multi-asset, multi-manager portfolios, and related implementation activities. The scale and diversity of our business allows us to dedicate significant and high-quality resources to research activities that drive our insights and recommendations—as a result, Russell Investments is a leading global asset manager with $290 billion in assets under management and is one of the largest global consultants with $2.6 trillion in assets under advisement.

My role in the organization focuses on the strategic planning, business development, corporate governance, sales data analytics and reporting, and strategic initiative implementation. As a senior executive, I chair a number of corporate committees, am a member of the North American intermediary distribution executive committee, sit on the global operational risk committee and perform several other business operations functions. I wear a lot of hats across the organization.

What can a student expect to experience by job shadowing you?
Students can expect to be exposed to a number of executives and professionals with the goal of providing insights into the financial services industry that will inform future career decisions. One-to-one meetings with individual Russell Investments professionals will be arranged for students that express a specific interest and for those who are more generally focused to facilitate networking and to refine interview skills. My team and I will look for opportunities for the students to observe executive decision-making during live business meetings during the visit. A tour of the trading floor where $2.5 trillion in trading activity occurred last year will be arranged.

Why do you want to host Logger Students?
Because it is the right thing to do.
