The William T. and Gail Weyerhaeuser Center for Health Sciences prepare students for work in the dynamic fields of health and behavioral sciences. It brings together four of Puget Sound's distinctive programs and provides resources for the interdisciplinary emphasis in neuroscience. Building on Puget Sound's liberal arts tradition of interdisciplinary innovation, the center brings together teaching and research in the undergraduate disciplines of psychology and exercise science with clinical graduate studies in occupational and physical therapy.
Timeline
Groundbreaking took place in May 2010. The building opened for classes in August 2011, with a grand opening in October 2011.

On the north side of North 11th Street, between Alder Street and Union Avenue, across from Memorial Fieldhouse.

Cost
Estimated total project cost: $21 million.
Sustainability
Designed and built to meet the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Standards, using sustainable materials and adhering to stringent environmental guidelines.
Accessibility
The building conforms to ADA guidelines and is designed to be accessible and available to all users, following universal design principles. Features include elevators, grades adjusted to eliminate steps wherever possible, deliberate selection and placement of furniture, and other measures to create a comfortable and accessible environment.
Academic Programs
The building houses the undergraduate departments of exercise science and psychology, graduate programs in the School of Occupational Therapy and School of Physical Therapy, and the interdisciplinary program in neuroscience. See program links at the right for more details.
Outpatient Clinics
The center provides services for the 300 patients referred to the outpatient clinics each year. The clinics are an important part of the community's health care network and provide students with opportunities to put theory and skills into practice. Puget Sound is among the leading colleges in the Pacific Northwest for the placement of occupational and physical therapists.

Architect and founder Peter Bohlin was awarded the 2010 AIA Gold Medal, the highest honor conferred by the American Institute of Architects.
