Brian Billings: Head Baseball Coac

Brian Billings, a University of Puget Sound alumnus, began his duties with the Loggers on May 15th, 2002. Coach Billings was the head coach at Pierce College in 2000 and 2001 and has worked with the Wilkinson Baseball Academy. He has also served as head coach for the Tacoma Stags Baseball Club and he is currently the Hitting Coach for the Seattle Studs Baseball Club. Billings graduated from Charles Wright Academy (Tacoma) prior to attending UPS. Billings played baseball for the Loggers while earning his degree in Physical Education. A three-year letterman at first base and catcher, Billings was a team captain in 1998 and 1999 and he was the Northwest Conference RBI leader in 1998.
Jeff Halstead: Outfield & Hitting Coach
Coach Halstead joined the Puget Sound Baseball Staff in 2001 after completing his playing career for the Loggers. Coach Halstead was a 4 year starter in the outfield for the Loggers. He was twice selected to the All-Northwest Conference 1st Team. In his senior season Halstead earned All-West Region Honors, while leading the Northwest Conference in hitting. Coach Halstead was also a three-time All-Northwest Conference Football player (Wide Receiver) at the University of Puget Sound. After completing his college career, Coach Halstead played one season of semi-pro baseball and one season of professional baseball in the Frontier League (Independent).
Bob Walz: Bullpen & Bench Coach
Coach Walz is entering his 11th season at UPS in 2005. Walz is a graduate from Washington State University ('71) and worked with the legendary Bobo Brayton (former WSU coach) as an assistant coach. Coach Walz was the interim Head Coach at UPS in 1995. Coach Walz is married to his wife Kathy.
Taylor Thompson, Pitching Coach
Taylor Thompson begins his first season as pitching coach. He played his collegiate baseball for Puget Sound and has since then also pitched for the Seattle Studs.
Mike Nadeau, Assistant Coach
Mike Nadeau joined the Loggers baseball staff in 2009.. He spent the previous four seasons as the Head Assistant Coach at Shoreline Community College. Mike played his college career at rival George Fox (1991-1994), under the tutelage of Pat Casey, now at Oregon State University. In 2006 Mike was inducted into George Fox University’s Sports Hall of Fame for both baseball and soccer accomplishments. He also received his BA in History from George Fox University. Mike was drafted in the 17th round by the Baltimore Orioles in 1994 and went on to play seven seasons in the minor leagues. Coach Nadeau also runs his own business, Nadeau Sports Training out of Auburn’s Seattle Baseball Academy. Mike has been the Head Coach of the 18U Buzz Baseball program for the past 7 years.
