You're in ... now what?

Visiting Campus

Admitted students and families are invited to see Puget Sound up close and personal. Whether it's a return visit or your first time to Tacoma, there's always something new and interesting to discover.

Class Registration and Academic Advising

Academic Advising is a service through which faculty members help students select, plan, and complete academic programs and explore graduate, professional, and career options for their lives after college.

You will be registered for your fall semester classes based on your responses to the Advising Placement Questionnaire available on myPugetSound in the spring.

Transfer Credit Policies

University of Puget Sound may grant lower division credit for a student's results on an Advanced Placement (AP) Examination or 1 unit of lower division credit for a student's results on each International Baccalaureate (IB) Higher Level Examination passed with a score of 5, 6, or 7. Additionally, if a student has earned the IB Diploma, 1 unit of lower division elective credit will be allowed for the Theory of Knowledge. Students will be allowed up to a total of 6 units based on IB results. Students with both IB and Advanced Placement (AP) examination results will be allowed a combined maximum of 16 units to apply as electives, toward a major/minor, and/or university core requirements. College credits earned prior to high school graduation may transfer if such credits appear on the transcript of a regionally-accredited college or university. This includes coursework complete through concurrent enrollment programs, such as Washington's Running Start and College in the High School programs.

Housing

The Puget Sound campus living environment provides abundant resources and support for academic, social, civic, and community life. First-year students typically live in a coed residence hall with single gender community bathrooms. Students live in rooms designed to accommodate one, two, or three roommates. Residence halls feature common areas with kitchen facilities, televisions, piano lounges, study and recreational areas. Rooms include extended length twin-sized beds, chest of drawers, bookcase, and a closet or wardrobe.

Students who live in residence halls are required to purchase a dining plan each semester. Meals are served in The Diner, located in the Wheelock Student Center. Food service is not available during Thanksgiving or winter holidays, and hours are reduced during spring break. In addition The Cellar, a popular student-run pizzeria, and Diversions Café are located in Wheelock Student Center and serve food items from midmorning until late evening.
