How to sign up for PSO trips and events?
Come to the Expeditionary to sign up for trips, plan your own trips and rent personal equipment. Trip sign-ups are at the Expeditionary and are available once the trip is on the schedule. To sign up and reserve a spot on the trip you must pay the trip fee in full.
What does PSO provide?
Unless otherwise noted, PSO provides transportation, group equipment, specialty equipment (like snowshoes, cross-country skis, or wetsuits) and organization. Personal equipment can be rented from the Expeditionary (like backpacks, sleeping bags, pads, gaiters, and mittens).
All trip meetings are mandatory and will be on Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. in the Smith Hall Lounge unless otherwise noted. Pay for the trip in advance or come prepared to pay for the trip with check or cash. Overnight trips will also have an equipment check and food purchasing/repackaging meeting on Thursday.
Acknowledgement of Risk & Health History
Because there are potential hazards involved in going outdoors, all PSO participants must sign an acknowledgement of risk form and complete a health history form once a year.
Trip fees are non-refundable unless we cancel the trip or you find someone to take your spot on the trip or unless you are too ill to go on the trips or if we cancel trip for any reason
Introductory: No previous experience required, general non-cotton clothing and hiking boots are required for your safety. Day hikes and backpack trips may gain up to 2,000 feet in elevation and cover 3-5 miles in a day.
Intermediate: Previous experience doing this type of activity is required. Day hikes and backpack trips may gain up to 3,000 feet and cover 4-8 miles in a day.
Advanced: Previous experience doing a similar trip and recent physical activity that is simliar to the exertion level of this trip is recommended. Day hikes and backpack trips may gain up to 4,000 feet and cover 7-12 miles in a day.
